Is there a limit to the number of plugs/chargers I can apply for?
You may apply for any number of plugs in one application, up to the $21,000 site cap. You must submit a separate application per eligible site. Once a site has reached $21,000 total rebate, it is no longer eligible for additional rebate.
What rebate amount can I claim if I run showrooms for multiple automotive manufacturers at the same eligible site?
You can claim up to $21,000 for each automotive manufacturer you represent at the eligible site. A separate application must be submitted for each franchise agreement associated with your showroom.
Does the $21,000 site cap apply if my eligible site has both a dealership rooftop and a service centre?
The rebate is capped at $21,000 per eligible site in total.
Are there restrictions on where EV chargers can be placed at the eligible site?
No, there are no restrictions on charger placement within the eligible site. However, chargers installed outside the eligible site do not qualify for the rebate.
Do the chargers need to be publicly accessible to qualify for the rebate?
No, the chargers can be for private or public use.
Can I apply for multiple eligible sites in a single application?
No, you must submit a separate application for each eligible site.
Can I submit more than one application for the same site to reach the $21,000 cap?
No, only one successful application is allowed per eligible site, unless the site includes showrooms operating under multiple franchise agreements or both a showroom and a service centre.
Do I need to provide evidence of costs related to installing EV chargers?
Yes, you must provide proof of the direct costs for purchasing and installing eligible EV smart chargers. These costs must have been incurred on or after March 26, 2024. Refer to Section 6.1 of the grant opportunity guidelines for more details.
Do I need to sell or service passenger vehicles to qualify?
Yes, this program is intended to support dealerships and EV repairers of passenger and light commercial vehicles.
If I operate under a dealer agreement with a vehicle manufacturer, who should apply for the rebate?
Only dealers are eligible to apply for the rebate, not the vehicle manufacturers.
Already received a Round 1 rebate?
If you received less than $3,000 per plug in Round 1, you may be eligible for a supplementary rebate in this round.
